Get the right setup between you and the road

Tires are the one single link the car has to the road surface which makes them incredibly important. They have a direct link to the quality of your ride as well as your safety in general. Bad tires can lead to you losing control of your vehicle, issues with braking and skidding on wet surfaces. It doesn’t matter if you have installed an engine as strong as an ox; it all won’t be worth it if your tires are in poor condition.

Tony’s Toys stocks over 3,500 tires from 15 different brands, including Dunlop, Sumitomo, Windforce, Goodyear and Michelin, right here on island. In fact, we are the only automotive centre on island with a hotline dedicated to tires – 623-TIRE. That means you’re sure to find the best tire for your car, SUV or truck right here, and at competitive prices too.

At Tony’s Toys our first priority is your safety on the road. That means tires that are the right size and type for your vehicle, properly inflated to the recommended pressure for your particular vehicle and in good condition.

Tire FAQ's

If you’ve been lucky enough to keep all your tires intact, the best time to start shopping is when your tires reach around six years old. You really should not wait any longer than that as rubber and other material in the tires deteriorates with time. Another sign to watch out for is when your car handling becomes shaky and hard to control. If this is the case it is recommended you bring your car in for an assessment to check the alignment of the wheels to see if they need replacing.

The general rule of thumb is that all tires should match in size. Even if you see a less expensive tire available remember it isn’t much of a deal if you buy a tire that doesn’t match the other three. If you only damaged one tire it is recommended that you replace it with a tire that has a similar brand, line, speed rating, and load capacity to your three remaining tires.

This information can be found in your owner’s manual or you can check your tires yourself by checking the numbers printed on the sidewall of the tires. tires sidewall numbers
The basic categories of tire are summer, all-season, and light truck. For the weather conditions in the Cayman Islands summer tires are your best bet because the grip levels for these tires are excellent.  Light truck tires are for larger vehicles. Most of these are available in larger sizes with higher load ratings for towing and hauling heavy loads. These are generally all-season and some of them are specially designed for off-road use in a variety of terrains. Tire pressure is something that is overlooked by many people. Proper tire inflation is vital to the performance and longevity of your tires. The maximum pressure of a tire is always printed on its sidewall, and you should not exceed this number. You should always inflate your tires to the manufacturer’s recommended pressure for normal driving but you can adjust the pressure up or down a little bit too to squeeze some extra performance out of your tires.
